Conkering cabin fever

September 9, 2011 § 3 Comments

Yes that typo is intentional. Today I had a challenge. One poorly and contagious 2yo. One bouncing-off-the-walls 4yo. And the baby. And the dog. How to get through the day without visiting a single playground, playgroup, or visiting friends?

Thank the heavens for the horse chestnut tree outside the house. And for the lovely tree surgeon who agreed to rake up the leaves and branches, but leave the conkers.

We collected them. We played baseball with them. And made potions with them (note the mint as garnish. Nice touch boys). Then, finally, we spread the conker love by leaving some out on the road for the neighbours. One dog walk around the woods later and job done. Maternal conscience salved. TV time.
